Rival 3 Gun Rifle: An In-Depth Look at the Components Used to Win
The Rival rifle is built around the new GEN III upper and lower receiver. It uses the proven and highly versatile NSR handguard featuring the Key-Mod attachment system. The rifle will come standard with an adjustable MAGPUL PRS stock, MIAD grip system, Geissele Automatics DMR adjustable trigger and the Silencerco Saker Trifecta Muzzle Brake. At the heart of this new gun is an all new custom profiled, stainless steel precision barrel with a rifle length gas system featuring a pinned Noveske marked Syrac Ordnance Gen 2 adjustable gas block.
Other features will include the Noveske STS ambi safety, Noveske Raptor charging handle and a Noveske take down pin set.
Using the trademark Noveske MOD 1 5.56 chamber for increased reliability and improved accuracy, the 18” stainless steel barrel will now feature 1 in 8 twist rate and 3 land rifling to address the variety of bullet weights that are commonly used in 3-Gun competition.
The new competition barrel utilizes a rifle length gas system is paired with a Noveske marked Syrac Ordnance Gen 2 adjustable gas block.  This combination helps the shooter tune his rifle and ammo to assist in achieving the softest recoil impulse possible.
The new Rival rifle also includes a Noveske reduced mass bolt carrier group to increase the cyclic rate. While high cyclic rate can be a problem in full auto guns, for 3-gun competition it means that the recoil impulse duration is shortened allowing a quicker return to target for faster follow up shots. This complete system paired with an effective muzzle brake like the Silencerco Saker Trifecta MB insures very little movement at the muzzle during fast paced competition shooting.
Finally, the Rival competition rifle is finished off in a custom powder titanium Cerakote developed just for this build. Cerakote is an extremely durable finish which holds up well to the extremes often seen during the rigorous courses of fire at 3-Gun matches.
The whole concept of this rifle was to build and spec it out to the exact configuration you would need in actual competition not just to be used as a starting point. Every modification, component and accessory was meticulously sourced and specified to guarantee the ultimate performance available in an all out 3-Gun package.
